Pyogenic Granulomas

CONDITIONS

Pyogenic Granulomas

Pyogenic granulomas are benign vascular lesions that often develop on the head and neck, though they can appear on any part of the body. These lesions are usually small and round and typically appear as red, pink or purple in color. Pyogenic granulomas can affect patients of any age, and start off as simple lesions that rapidly grow in a matter of weeks. They can appear as smooth, raised bumps, or they can have a rough, crusty surface. Pyogenic granulomas tend to bleed often and easily, even with no trauma to the area. Treatment will vary depending on size and location – smaller pyogenic granulomas often go away on their own, while larger ones may need to be scraped, cauterized, chemically removed or surgically removed to keep them from growing.
