Minor Eye Problems

Your primary care physician can provide evaluation and treatment for a wide array of minor eye problems, including corneal abrasions, eye infections, watering or dry eyes, styes, conjunctivitis (“pink eye”), vision problems and inflammation of the eyelids or areas around the eye. When needed, your physician may refer you to an ophthalmologist or optometrist for specialized care. Signs that you may have an eye infection in need of medical evaluation include eye discharge, blurry vision, tearing eyes and fever. Most eye infections are treatable with prescription antibiotic eye drops.
